Where is my data stored?

On your own device, in your browser's database, such as Chrome, Firefox or Safari. No data is sent to a server. Note: if you clear your browsing history, your data disappears too. So make regular backups as a centen file, or export to PDF. You decide where your data lives.

What is a centen file?

A centen file is your personal backup of My Pennies. It contains all your data in a file you keep yourself, on your computer, in the cloud or on a USB stick. Open it again in My Pennies later and you continue where you left off.

Why is My Pennies free?

Because everyone deserves a grip on their money, without barriers. No subscription, no ads, no hidden costs.

Do I need an account?

No. No account, no registration, no password. You open My Pennies and just start.

How do I save my data outside my device?

In two ways: save a centen file as a digital backup you can open later, or create a PDF for a printable overview on paper. You choose where those files go.

How does the budget work?

In My Pennies you build a rolling budget. You enter what comes in and split it across income, fixed costs and wishes. Saving and repaying are included automatically — so you immediately see what's fixed, how much room you have left and what you can spend daily.

How does saving work?

You create a savings goal with a target amount and a monthly amount. That monthly amount is automatically included in your budget, so you immediately see what saving means for your free room. In the savings goal itself you see how much you've saved, how much is still missing and how far you are.

How does repaying work?

You create a repayment goal with a total amount and a monthly amount. That monthly amount is automatically included in your budget, so you immediately see what repaying means for your free room. In the repayment goal itself you see how much debt is still outstanding and how much you've repaid. You can also track which agreements were made and which contacts took place.

How do I make a PDF export?

Go to Settings and choose Export PDF. Select which parts you want to include — such as budget, saving, repaying, transactions or log — and My Pennies creates a print-ready PDF.

How do I make a backup?

Go to Settings and choose Save. My Pennies then creates a centen file with all your data. Store it wherever you want.

I have a backup. How do I use it?

Go to Settings and choose Open. Select your centen file and My Pennies loads your data so you can continue where you left off.
